iGaming UGC vs Influencer Marketing: Which Model Fits the Job
October 21, 2026

iGaming UGC vs influencer marketing comes down to what you are buying. UGC buys content: videos made by creators that your brand licenses and runs on its own accounts, ads and landing pages. Influencer marketing buys access: a streamer or creator puts your brand in front of an audience that already trusts them.
Quick answer: Choose influencer marketing when the gap is audience and trust, for example a new brand on Kick or Twitch. Choose UGC when the gap is creative: you need many tested videos for places you control, such as ad accounts where you are certified, landing pages and onboarding. Check where each can legally run before you commission anything, because gambling rules differ by platform and market. Brands that scale run both and keep rights and measurement separate.
What You Buy With Each Model

| UGC | Influencer marketing | |
|---|---|---|
| You pay for | The video and the right to use it | A placement in front of the creator's audience |
| Who distributes | Your brand accounts, certified ads, landing pages | The creator's own channel, stream or feed |
| Audience | Whoever your accounts and ads reach | The creator's followers, with their country and age mix |
| Control | High: script and edit approved before posting | Shared: the creator's voice, your compliance rules |
| Speed | A briefing and filming cycle, then batches | Booking and fixed live dates |
| Typical pay | Per video or batch, with usage rights agreed separately | A flat fee, a performance share or a hybrid |
| Measured by | Approval efficiency, reuse, then results where the asset runs | Delivery against the agreement, then qualified depositors per creator |
| Main risk | No approved place to run the content | Wrong-country or under-age audience, bought viewers |
A simple test: if the video would still be useful with the creator's name removed, you are buying UGC. If the value disappears without the creator's audience, you are buying influence.
Where Each Model Can Legally Run
UGC is only as useful as the places that will accept it. Check the current wording of each policy before you commission:
- Kick. Gambling is permitted with strict rules: the 18+ label, a gambling category, sponsorships disclosed visually and audibly, and sponsored gambling only for licensed platforms in the relevant jurisdiction (Kick Help Center: community guidelines and content labels).
- Twitch. Sports betting, fantasy sports and poker are allowed. Links and codes for sites that promote slots, roulette or dice games are not (Twitch Safety).
- TikTok. The Branded Content Policy lists gambling as a prohibited industry (TikTok, last updated November 2023). Separately, gambling ads are allowed only in specified markets where gambling is legal, after certification with licence documents (TikTok Ads policy). A creator's sponsored post and a certified ad are different cases.
- Google Ads. Advertisers need certification and must hold a valid local licence for every region they target. Ads must never target minors (Google Ads policy).
- Meta. Publishes its own standards for online gambling and games ads, which you should check for each market (Meta Transparency Center).
If you have no approved ad account in a market, lead with influencers. Our Rainbet case shows what UGC can do when paid reach is restricted: 1,264 creator videos produced about 5.85M organic impressions in three months with no paid amplification. See all case studies.
Rights: A Posted Video Is Not Reusable Media

A streamer's sponsored session is not a licence to run the VOD as an ad. UGC rights are bought separately, so settle these points in the first offer:
- Organic use on your own accounts.
- Paid use as ads, with named platforms and countries.
- Editing rights: cuts, captions, localisation and any synthetic changes.
- Likeness and voice of the creator, and what happens if they leave.
- Term and territory. How long and where the content may run.
- Posting through the creator's account for partnership-style distribution.
- Takedown. Who removes the content if a rule or the product changes.
- Exclusivity against other gambling brands.
Compliance Differs by Model
UGC is your advertising. When you run a creator's video as an ad, it must meet the code in each market as if your team had shot it. In the UK, rule 16.3.14 of the CAP Code says no one who is or seems under 25 may be featured gambling or play a significant role, with a narrow exception (ASA). Check the age of every on-screen creator, not only their audience. UGC lets you cast for this rule. A streamer's age and look are fixed.
Influencer posts are advertising too. The FTC says disclosure belongs inside the video and should be repeated periodically during a livestream (FTC Disclosures 101). For UK personalities, CAP guidance treats at least 100,000 follower accounts registered to under-18s as a rule of thumb for strong appeal to children (ASA, October 2025).
For wording and contract clauses, see our guides to casino influencer compliance, disclosure examples and casino UGC in regulated markets.
How to Measure Each Model
- UGC. First production metrics: time to approval, accepted videos, usable variants. Then results in the place the asset runs, down to qualified depositors per creative through a unique link and postback.
- Influencers. First delivery: sessions or posts completed and average concurrent viewers against the agreed level. Then qualified depositors per creator through links, codes and postbacks, and player value at 30 and 90 days.
Do not compare views from one model with sign-ups from the other. Put both on the same measure, cost per qualified depositor, using the method in our cost per FTD guide.
Decision Checklist
- Where will the content run? If you have no approved ad account in the market, lead with influencers.
- Is your brand known there? If not, lead with influencers. Trust has to come before ads can convert.
- Does the offer convert but the creative has gone stale? Lead with UGC and refresh hooks on a schedule.
- Do you already have stream footage? Compare UGC with clipping before commissioning new videos, see our iGaming clipping agency page.
- Can you track qualified depositors per creator and per creative? If not, fix tracking first. Neither model can be judged without it.
A Hybrid Plan for a Casino Brand
- Pilot with streamers. Start with a small Kick pilot, or Twitch for sports betting and poker, with clip and repost rights in the contract.
- Cut the clips. Take the moments that hold attention and review them for context and compliance.
- Commission UGC for what clips cannot show. Onboarding steps, deposit and KYC explainers, payment methods.
- Run assets only where accepted. Certified ad accounts, your landing page and your own channels.
- Feed results back. Hooks that win in ads tell streamers which angle to lead with. Questions from stream chat tell UGC what to explain.
- Track each layer separately with one link and code per creator and per creative, then move effort to the layer that brings better players.
If you would rather have one team run both layers, our iGaming UGC agency and iGaming influencer marketing agency pages show how we work. Book a free strategy call or send us a brief with your markets and targets.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between iGaming UGC and influencer marketing?
UGC buys content that your brand licenses and distributes through its own accounts, ads and landing pages. Influencer marketing buys access to a creator's audience on the creator's own channel. In iGaming, UGC supplies creative and influencers supply trust and depositors.
Can casino UGC run as paid ads?
Only where the platform allows gambling ads and your brand is certified. Google requires certification and a valid local licence for every region you target. TikTok allows gambling ads only in specified markets after certification, while its Branded Content Policy prohibits gambling creator posts.
Do UGC creators in UK gambling ads need to be over 25?
CAP Code rule 16.3.14 says no one who is or seems under 25 may be featured gambling or play a significant role, with a narrow exception. It applies to UGC creators who appear on screen, so check their age as well as their audience.
Do stream clips count as UGC?
They can, if the streamer's contract includes clip, repost and paid usage rights. Without those clauses you can only share what the creator posts, and you cannot run the clips as ads.
Which model should a new casino brand start with?
Usually influencers, because a new brand needs trust before ads convert. Start with a small streamer pilot that includes clip rights, then commission UGC for the explainers that clips cannot cover.
How do I measure UGC against influencer results?
Put both on cost per qualified depositor with a unique link and postback for each creator and each creative. Use production metrics for UGC and delivery metrics for influencers as supporting checks, not as the main result.
